Lydia's story

This is Lydia, 52, a resident of Payatas, Philippines. She is married to Ronaldo, her business partner, and a mother to her children. She keeps herself busy attending to her family and doing business to help her husband pay the family's daily expenses.

Lydia operates a pillow-making business. She cuts scrap materials from textiles, foams and fibers, puts them in a plain pillow case and covers it with a better looking pillow case of various cartoon designs. She makes different kinds and sizes of pillows. Prices range from 35-80 PHP per pillow. Her regular customers are her neighborhood and local community. She also has clients in the market who regularly order pillows from her. She earns a minimum of 300 PHP in sales every day.

To help her continue business operations, she is requesting a 16, 000 PHP loan. She will use the loan to buy foam, cotton, fabric, plastic, and other materials needed to make pillows. She expects a boost to her income as she expands her business. Her earnings will be a big help in paying the educational expenses of her children.

Lydia hopes her business will continue to grow and dreams of giving all her children a good and quality education. She wants a good life and health for her family. She faithfully attends the weekly fellowship* that allows her to listen to the word of God and have a better relationship not only with God but also with her family and community.
