A loan of $500 helped to pay for chicken and pork for her business.

Maria's story

This is Maria, 63, a resident of Dasmarinas Cavite, Philippines. She is married to Gregorio, a vendor, and is a mother to her children. She, together with her husband, manages their household while operating the business. At this time, she is working hard to continually provide income for her everyday expenses. Maria operates a meat stall. They buy pork and chicken from suppliers who deliver the meat to the respective market stalls. There are many patrons who prefer her products since they are assured of its freshness and cleanliness. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of PHP 1,000 in sales every day. To help her continue operations of her business, she is requesting a PHP 20,000 loan. She will be utilizing the loan to buy additional supplies of chicken and pork meat needed in her business. She expects a boost in her business income as she expands her business. Maria hopes to expand her business and dreams that her children will have businesses as well. She faithfully meets up with her co-fellowship members to share stories of her work every week and draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God she studies. * All CCT community partners/clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and pay Micro Finance loans.
