Rosa Alba's story

Rosa Alba, age 37, is married and lives in the municipality of Puerto Morazán, Del Viejo city, department of Chinandega. She lives with her four children, ages 11, 19, 21 and 22. The youngest is in fifth grade, and the eldest us studying to be a teacher. Rosa Alba started her convenience store with her husband in order to find a means of subsistence; her husband is a farmer and he was starting into the transportation business. The store is now a stable, prosperous business that is growing. "At the moment, my income depends on my store. It is located in my home. My daughters, who are studying to be teachers, help me. My husband is helping now that his business is going a bit better. I will use this loan to invest more in the store with the purchase of basic staples such as rice, sugar, corn, beans, oil, soap, and other products." She makes her purchases in Chinandega and also from distributors who visit her at home.
