A loan of $1,500 helped to buy a commercial stove, a tamale machine, and supplies to make tamales and humitas to sell and deliver to houses in the city.

Anita's story

Anita is 35, charismatic, honest, modest, and loves to work. Anita lives with her two children in the city of Ibarra in Imbabura province. To support her family and improve its circumstances, Anita began selling tamales and humitas, food items made with corn and flour. She has run this business by herself for three years, and it is prospering because of her good nature and good food. She uses the income from the business to pay household expenses and buy the things her children need.

Anita has applied to FODEMI for a loan to buy a commercial stove, a tamale machine, and supplies such as sweet corn to make tamales and humitas to meet ever-rising demand. She dreams of a better life for her children, including a good education, and of having her own house. She works hard each day to achieve her dreams and thanks God for giving her the strength and motivation to go on.
