Ambato, Ecuador / Clothing Sales

A loan of $1,000 helped to buy clothes.

Maria's story

María’s a humble woman living in the city of Ambato; she’s 21-years-old and defines herself as a reserved, cheerful, enterprising, very hardworking person who is happy when spending time with her family. María has two children, a 3-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy. María lives with her husband and children. María decided to start selling clothes more than three years ago as a way to help her husband with household expenses.

She’s asking FODEMI for a loan to buy clothes to then resell in her commercial locale. María will buy jeans, shirts, children’s, women’s and men’s sportswear. She comments that the work is demanding but quite rewarding because she spends her time with her family and when she puts much effort into it the economic profits are very good. Her dream is to buy a place of her own to work in with her husband and with profits from it to provide schooling for her children and a better quality of life for her family.
