A loan of $2,050 helped a member to buy meat.

Amanecer Group's story

The "Amanecer" communal bank will start with its first loan with Pro Mujer as part of the regional office of Collpani. The group is made up of seven members and is led by board of directors whose president is Flora. The businesses that the communal bank members work at are varied. Among them are shoe sales, oil sales, video sales, clothing sales, infant clothing sales, api [Bolivian purple corn drink] sales, jacket sales, and cosmetics sales.

The loan they are taking out now will benefit these small business owners. Flora is a member of this group and she says that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for a few years. She became a member through the invitation of a friend who is a partner at the institution. She currently has a business selling meat. She learned how to manage the business through training from a friend.

The loan that she is taking out now is to increase her capital (buying meat) that she will acquire from the slaughterhouse in the city of El Alto. Later she will sell the meat in her sales space. This kind of work allows her to generate resources to support her home as much as possible as she is married and has five children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the trainings in the areas of credit and health.

The group is accompanied by the cousin of Nancy, who is located in the back wearing pink.
