A loan of $150 helped to buy tea tree seedlings for the business.

Stanley's story

Stanley lives in the Nanyuki area of Central province, Kenya. He owns a tea tree farming business. He started the business from the income he earned from subsistence farming. The extract from tea tree is used to manufacture cosmetics. He began the business of tea tree farming this year.

He learned about Milango through an employee who invited him to the group and he joined the group with the aim of accessing credit. The main challenge in the area has been the seasonal weather. This he believes will be sorted out once he purchases a water pump.

Stanley is applying for a loan of 11,175 Kenya shillings to buy tea tree seedlings for the business. His extra income from the loan will be added to the savings and he looks forward to establishing the farm by increasing the acreage.
