Mayra Del Socorro's story

Mayra is 54 years old and the mother of 9 children, with just 1 still in her care. The remainder live independently. She lives in the city of Boaco and sells tortillas, baked beans and soft drinks. Mayra has been doing this since 22 years ago, when she began making tortillas with just 5 lbs. of corn. searching for a means of helping her family. Little by little, her business has grown. She managed to maintain her children and pay for school, dress them and give them food. Over time, she has been increasing her sales of beans and soft drinks. Her customers continue to solicit these products.

Mayra dreams of finishing her humble house and improving the kitchen, which is where she prepares the tortillas and beans. She needs financing to buy corn, firewood, beans, cream and cottage cheese. Mayra wants to sell breakfasts to accompany her delicious and piping hot tortillas, which she makes with her own hands.
