Afila's story

Afila is a 38-year-old woman. She is an IDP (Internally Displaced Person) who lives in the Bilasuvar IDP Settlement with her husband and two children. She is a farmer and has raised seasonal fruits and vegetables for the last 6 years. She chose this business because it is profitable and fresh crops are in high demand. People use fresh vegetables every day and consider them healthy. Many national dishes are made of vegetables, like pilau and dolma. Fresh fruits are served on every table of Azerbaijan families and also make refreshing punch. Afila sells her crops in the central bazaar. Her monthly income is 110 AZN. Her husband is a builder, but doesn’t have a permanent job and actively helps her to raise the crops. As her products are in high demand, Afila wants to expand her business and produce more fruits and vegetables to cover the market demand. For this purpose she has applied for 1000 AZN. She will buy new garden tools, seeds and fertilizers.
