A loan of $350 helped to buy poultry birds.

Rose's story

Rose is the mother of three children, with the first two already schooling. She is age thirty-two and has four consecutive years in farming within her rural home area in Kitale, Western Kenya. Her farm currently produces mainly milk and eggs for the local market. She also runs a salon business to supplement her farming income.

Rose has requested a loan of 30,000 KES from Kiva partner, Juhudi Kilimo, to help her expand her poultry business by buying more birds. She says she enjoys her poultry business and strongly believes she will be able to expand even her dairy business.

Rose says the main challenge, however, remains the high cost of poultry feeds and outbreaks which call for proper management.
