A loan of $250 helped a member to build a proper latrine.

Phally's Group's story

Phally is 25 years old, and lives in a rural area of the Bovel district in Cambodia’s Battambang province. She is blessed with four children, all of whom are under her responsibility. One of Phally‘s children is too young for schooling while the rest are school-aged children. To make the living, Phally farms rice on a two-hectare plot of farm. Having been involved in the rice-growing business for ten years, Phally is able to earn approximately 16,000KHR daily. Phally, a first-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner), is leading a loan group of five members to take out a loan in the amount of 200,000KHR each. In hope to avoid using unsanitary practices, Phally will utilize her loan portion to build a proper latrine for use by the family. With the help of the requested loan portion, Phally will be able to create a healthy environment as well as promote sanitation and hygiene practices in her community.
