A loan of $275 helped to buy an assortment of fish.

Alex's story

Alex is a 30-year old cheerful and hard-working man, who has lived with Sandra (29 years old) for more than 13 years. They have four children, aged 11, 6, 3 and 11 months old, and live together in a house that he could build in a piece of land of his father-in-law. He works hard everyday to provide his children, whom he loves with all his heart, with everything they need.

Alex works buying and and selling fish in bulk. He wakes up very early every day to buy fish to the traveling auctioneers that offer their fresh products at the city's fishing harbor. He chooses the best products and takes them to his warehouse, where he freezes them, put them in hermetic bags and send them to other cities. He has been doing this for 14 years, from 4am to approximately 10pm every day of the year, and counts with the help of two family members. For the past 2 years he has also worked as a mototaxi driver in the evenings, but only when he is not too tired from his job as a fish salesman.

He really enjoys what he does because he feels he's helping to distribute the fish species that exist in the rivers of his city. He also enjoys promoting its preservation by rejecting and bringing to the authorities' attention situations where the fish is not suitable for consumption, either because of its size or because it's closed season.

He looks forward to exporting his products in larger quantities in the future. This is his second loan with the institution MFP and is very satisfied to know he counts with a financial support to move forward in his job. He's also happy to be part of his communal bank, where all its members are very responsible and caring. The requested 700 nuevos soles will go towards obtaining the financial capital he needs to buy more fish to sell to other cities.
