A loan of $400 helped to buy basic staples.

Rosa's story

Rosa, age 58, is an honest, friendly, and very hard-working woman. She has lived with Ernesto, age 61, for 37 years and they have 6 children together. Their youngest child is still school-aged. They live comfortably in their own home. Rosa sells basic staples such as tomatoes, bananas, lemons, eggs, and various basic staples. She runs her business out of the front of her home. Every morning, very early, she sets up a table to sell her wares. She replenishes her stock daily, buying wholesale in the city market. She selects the freshest and healthiest vegetables, and knows very well how to do so just from looking at the product due to her years of experience in this business. She works on her own most of the time, but sometimes her son helps her when she has to do certain jobs around the house. She has had this business for about 5 years and she enjoys being able to make an income with comfort and tranquility from her own home. Also, for 15 years she has sold fish wholesale, seasonally. She is also part of a vendors' association that works to export the very best fish from the rivers in the city. She likes her work very much because her income from her sales allows her to support her partner with the basic household costs. For this reason, she hopes to open a store in the future and to sell various products in order to increase her income. This will allow her to continue to provide her family with every necessity. This will be her second loan with MFP. She is grateful for this opportunity and for the confidence that has been placed in her. She also promises to repay her quotas responsibly and punctually. She is grateful to be part of her communal bank, because she has seen that the members are united and capable. With the requested 1000 nuevos soles, she will buy a larger quantity of basic staples to sell and start her store.
