Kelita's story

Kelita is 54 years old. She is a hardworking working and determined woman as well as being cheerful and friendly. She lives with Angel, who is a mason and father of her children that are already of age and independent. They live comfortably together in their own home.

Kelita sells different styles of shoes for women, men, and children. They are purchased in the city of Lima, thanks to the support of her friend that lives there that buys and sends them to her. Kelita then sells them to her family, friends, and neighbors. She attends to her customers in a kind way, managing to earn their business. She has more than 10 years dedicated to this business, and so far, she has done this alone.

She enjoys her business since it generates an income and gives her an occupation. It also gives her time to be home to take care of their animals (chickens and ducks). She considers her business to be quite profitable, and therefore wants to increase her stock of goods and to make her business grow. On the other hand, she says that she know how to sew, and plans to buy a sewing machine and venture into that business to generate more income.

This will be her 12th loan with the institution MFP. She is very glad to know that she will have financial support, because she will feel safe in growing her business. On the other hand, she feels comfortable with her community bank, because she considers it a united group with solidarity.

With the requested amount of 1200 nuevos soles ($475), she will invest it into buying a greater number of different styles of shoes in order to have a stock available for sale. She hopes to get them for less for purchasing in bulk.
