Osveida's story

The members of “Grupo De Crédito Nueva Generación” meet every two weeks in the Crucita parish of the Portoviejo settlement. This area is known for its beautiful beaches, food, and the warmth of its people.

Osveida lives here. She is 66 years old and the single mother of 12 adult children. Three of her children, still single, live with her.

Osveida is a merchant and set up a small pub in her home, so that she could get her children ahead after the loss of her husband. She wanted to take advantage of the fact that many tourists arrive here and in this way she can get ahead in a dignified way. She sells empanadas, corviches, soft drinks, juices, and other drinks. Also on the weekends she prepares a delicious ceviche which the tourists really enjoy. She works Wednesday through Sunday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and has been doing this for more than 15 years. Thanks to God, things are going very well for her business.

She will use the money from this loan to buy cooking oil, plantains, corn, and other foods to prepare her dishes. She is a founding member of the communal bank and likes the benefits it offers.

Her dream is to have a grand restaurant.
