A loan of $400 helped to buy clothing to sell and grocery products to stock her store.

Delicia's story

Delicia, 38 years old, is a cheerful and friendly woman, in addition to being hard-working and determined. She lives together with Jorge, who is a merchant. Together they live comfortably in their own house, which they bought with great effort, and in the company of a niece whom they take care of and support with the expenses of her studies. The work that Delicia does is selling clothing for men, women and children, of various styles and in fashion. These products are sent to her by a friend from the capital. She also dedicates herself to selling general groceries; she has a store which she set up in her home, where she provides very friendly service to her customers, and also takes advantage of the opportunity to offer them the clothing that she has available for sale. She has dedicated herself to both businesses for more than 3 years; she started out by using her own capital and buying in small quantities. Seeing the good results, she decided to continue. Now, she occasionally needs the support of an assistant, whom she pays for each day worked. She considers both businesses quite profitable thanks to the earnings they provide her. She started in both businesses due to the need to have an occupation and help her partner with the household expenses, and in order to feel like a productive and independent person. Seeing the good results, she plans to continue and to increase her stocks of merchandise, thus seeing her business grow. Accordingly, this will be loan number 8 for her with the MFP institution. She is happy to know that she can have access to a line of credit to continue with her business, and accordingly she is committed to being punctual in making her loan payments, as with previous loans, in order to have a good credit record and continue having access to this support. At the same time, she comments that she likes the work of her communal bank, since she considers it a united group with a sense of solidarity. With the amount requested, 1000 new soles, she will invest in buying merchandise for her business, such as a variety of clothing in diverse styles, as well as groceries to stock her store. She will seek to buy all of this merchandise at lower prices due to the volume purchased, and thus she will have larger profit margins.
