A loan of $1,425 helped to buy refreshments by the crate.

Carlos's story

Carlos is 70 years old and previously had a bakery when he lived in a different part of Colombia with his wife and their four children. There, his business had grown and they were very stable. His finances and dreams of prosperity grew. But one day misfortune knocked on his doors and he was forced to abandon everything and start over. His greatest challenge had been started at his family's side. His daughter helped him move to the city of Barranquilla to get his family ahead and begin a new business.

He became a beer and soft drink distributor and is now located in the municipality of Soledad with this small business that he has begun to grow. His primary customers are his neighbors and those referred to him from the area and other neighborhoods that surround his. He wakes up very early and at 6:00 in the evening he finishes his work of the day.

He is currently applying for a Kiva loan, his second made to the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, through which he will buy refreshments by the crate and with which he plans once again to increase his utility. With the financing he will have greater purchasing power. His goal of prosperity is to increase his earnings to support his children wherever possible and to improve the well-being within his home.
