A loan of $600 helped to purchase fertilizers, manure and insecticides for protecting her crops from pests.

Miryan Mercedes's story

Miryan is married and lives in a small apartment with her husband in the Tarira sector of the town of Ventanas, in the Los Ríos Province. Miryan makes a living in agriculture, and is a member of the community bank Renacer, which is also located in Tarira and supports local entrepreneurs in their farming and livestock businesses.

The main crops that Miryan cultivates are corn and rice, and she plans to use the support from this loan to purchase input items for her farming operation, including fertilizers, manure and insecticides to protect her crops from pests. She buys her agricultural input items in the city of Ventanas, and she hopes that this loan and investment will help her to increase her profits and expand her farming operation. Miryan's dream is to one day purchase a car for transporting her goods to and from market. In her free time, she likes to sleep and listen to music.
