A loan of $700 helped to buy supplies, tables, and chairs for her restaurant.

Edita's story

When Edith's husband was working, Edith's neighbor started asking her to make lunches for her family on weekends because she makes really good food. Little by little, she got more customers who asked her to make lunches for them, and that was when she started to see it as a viable business idea that could provide her with income for her family. Her family is comprised of her husband and her 3 children - now adults. She started a restaurant , and she has been getting more and more customers because it has become very well-known.

Her main customers are people who work locally, and there are a lot of businesses near her restaurant. She sends the lunches daily and works from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.

She has 4 employees whom she pays twice monthly, and her husband helps her out when he has time. She offers a home delivery service at an extra cost to 30 customers daily and serves more than 80 in her restaurant.

She is currently requesting a loan from Kiva, which will be her second loan from the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, to buy supplies, tables, and chairs in order to increase her sales potential. In this way she will create more income for her family. Her biggest dream is to be able to support her son with his studies so that he can become a successful professional.
