Afou's story

Ms. Afou was born in 1968 in Karibougou/ Sikasso. She is mother of three children and lives with her spouse in Mandela (the third largest administrative region in Mali). She has been in business for more than six years. Her experience in this field has earned her a good reputation and she receives orders from various customers. In order to have the means necessary to satisfy these customers, she decided to work with Soro Yiriwaso, a microfinance institution, two years ago. All her prior loans have been fully repaid. This new loan will enable her to buy 10 bags of 50kg of fonio and five bags of corn. She stocks up in the villages surrounding Mandela. Her sales are usually made to male and female customers on-site and at the Sikasso market. With this loan, she expects to earn an average monthly profit of 20,000 FCFA. This profit will allow her to pay the interest on her loan and to invest the rest in her business. She plans to become a reputable wholesaler in order to satisfy her many clients who continue to grow in number.
