A loan of $625 helped a member to purchase shoes.

Sabougnouma Group's story

The four members of the group SABOUGNOUMA are married women averaging 33 years of age and three children each. The women live for the most part in monogamous families in HAMDALLAYE, a working-class district in Sikasso City. They are on their 9th loan with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso for meeting the needs of their customers.

AOUA does commerce in shoes in this group of women. She is the one standing second from the left in the photo. She intends to use her loan to purchase about 100 pairs of plastic footwear, which she sells retail for cash locally and at the Hamdallaye market.

She envisions making an average monthly profit of 22,000 francs CFA. Part of the profits will be used to repay the loan and cover the interest, and the other part will go toward her savings.

In this group: Aoua, Aoua, Bebe, Marietou
