A loan of $625 helped a member to purchase shoes for resale.

Sabali Group's story

The four members of the Sabali group are primarily married women with an average age of 37 years and have an average of five children. They live mostly in monogamous families in Hamdallaye, one of the popular districts in the city of Sikasso. This is their second loan with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso. They hope to use this loan to satisfy the needs of their clientele.

Aoua is a merchant in the shoe trade for this group of women. She is shown on the far left in the photo. Aoua intends to use her loan to purchase 150 pairs of plastic shoes. She sells them both from her home and at retail in the market of Hamdallaye. Aoua expects to earn an average monthly income of 20,500 FCFA. Part of this she will use to repay her loan and its interest, and the rest she will put into her savings.
