A loan of $450 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Rom's Group's story

Rom, 50, is from a rural village located in the Kror Kor district of Pursat province. She is widowed with four children, one of whom is still in school. She and her husband earn a living through farming rice. Engaging in this business for ten years, Rom is able to earn about 9,000 KHR per day and she can manage to save about 3,000 KHR each day after offsetting daily expenses.

Rom has been with VisionFund for two cycles while the other members of her group have been with VisionFund from one to three cycles. Rom successfully paid back the past loans which have enabled her to support the family with sufficient food. Now she is leading her group of three to ask for a loan. Rom will use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use a portion on buying household supplies. She hopes this loan will help her to get a high crop yield from her paddy-field so as to improve her standard of living and keep her child in school.
