Phearom's Group's story

Phearom is 28 years old and a resident of a rural village of Ek Phnom District, located in Cambodia’s Battambang Province. She is single and earns a living through farming rice, growing cucumbers and catching fish. Having been in the current businesses for eight years, Phearom is able to earn approximately 30,000 KHR per day and manages to save 10,000 KHR after canceling out the daily expenses. Phearom is a fourth-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She was able to improve her living standard via the help of the previous loans that she successfully paid back. Now she is leading a loan group of three female members to apply for a loan in the amount of 3,800,000 KHR in total. The group representative, Phearom, will spend her loan portion on supporting her businesses by purchasing fertilizer, cucumber seeds, and fishing materials such as fish traps and cast nets. Phearom expects a boost in her income after receiving and wisely using her requested loan portion.
