A loan of $1,000 helped to buy organic compost.

Yolanda's story

Yolanda, age 35, is a modest woman who lives in her own home with her husband Sabino. They have two small children who they care for with much love and for whom they provide an education. From a very young age, Yolanda began acquiring all of the knowledge she currently uses in her job as a farmer. She is very content to spend most of her time outdoors among the hills, the meadows, and the rivers. Yolanda enjoys working in the fresh air. Her main crops include corn, potatoes, and wheat, but she also harvests tubers that are produced on her land. The crops are sold directly from her farmland since her customers come to her during the harvest season. Being a very intelligent woman, Yolanda also spends time raising animals such as cows, sheep, and pigs. “By fattening the animals, I am able to sell at a higher price at any given moment,” she says. Yolanda is able to generate a constant stream of household income, so she is able to avoid financial hardships.

She is a member of the Communal Bank “Pampa Blanca” (White Plain) and this is her sixth loan with MFP. Yolanda is happy to have worked with her group for many years and all of the members are humane individuals who have the desire to help one another.

With the money she requested, Yolanda will invest in the purchase of organic compost for her crops during the next planting season.
