A loan of $400 helped to buy compost.

Yolanda's story

Yolanda is 46 years old and an admirable woman. She lives with her three children, Ruth, Bosis, and Jerson, whom she cares for in the home she inherited 25 years ago. She is a single mother and the love she has toward her family has made her focus on working hard. She has been farming for more than 20 years and this has helped her gain many buyers and lots of experience in sales. She travels to Huancayo each harvest to sell corn, potatoes, beans, and peas. She plants on her own land, located in a zone some distance away, between mountains and slopes. “I also raise animals, like cows and bulls, and have bees,” she says. The honey she gets from the hives allows her to have a daily income. She sells the honey at good prices and it’s of good quality. “Since they live in between flowers and preserved meadows, it’s fresh and healthy,” she affirms. This will be her fifth loan though MFP and she is happy that she has the necessary capital to improve her business and quality of life. She also likes being a part of the group because the other members are hardworking and united.

Yolanda will use the money from this loan to buy compost to feed her next planting.
