A loan of $5,425 helped a member to buy 4 sheep and animal feed.

Malick's Group's story

This village bank was formed on February 7th, 2001. The members get along well together and are supportive of each other.

Marame, stood on the right of the photo raising her hand, is 60 years old. She is married and has six children: four sons and two daughters.

Marame's business is fattening sheep. With this loan, she will buy four sheep at 25,000 francs each. She will also buy animal feed and pay vet fees. At the end of five months, she will re-sell the sheep for 35,000 francs each.

The profits Marame makes will allow her to buy another sheep which she will keep for herself. She will also be able to strengthen her savings.
