A loan of $1,025 helped to buy timber.

Yatoufa's story

Yatoufa was born in 1955, in Nèbabougou, Sikasso. Yatoufa is a polygamist. He has two wives and nine children. He lives with his two wives and children in Sanoubougou I, a popular neighborhood of Sikasso (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali).

Yatoufa did not have the opportunity to go to school and, after having run a number of businesses without much success, he started selling timber around six years ago. He buys his timber in neighboring areas. With the experience he has in his field, he has built up a strong reputation and receives a lot of orders. However, he lacks the resources he needs to satisfy his customers' needs. For this reason, he decided to join Soro Yiriwaso's loan program. This is his third loan and he will use it to increase his working capital so that he can better respond to his customers' demands. He repaid his previous loans on time and in full.

This third loan will allow Yatoufa to buy 500 planks of wood which he will sell to a wide range of people. He plans to make a monthly profit of 175,000 francs. He plans to use the profits he makes to cover his main expenses and those of his family. He will also pay the interest on his loan and invest the remainder in his main business.
