A loan of $1,625 helped to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics and underwear.

Bettsy Maribel's story

The communal bank "Colorado" meets every 15 days in Colorado in the canton of Montecristi. This is a place that is known at the national and international level for its rich pre-colonial culture and for its handicrafts. This is where the famous "Panama" straw hats are made.

This is the home of Bettsy, 45, who is married and has 3 children. Two of her children are grown, and the youngest, who is 15 years old, is in school. Her husband is a taxi driver.

Bettsy is a housewife who, in order to generate her own resources and help her husband with the household expenses, has a business selling women's undergarments and beauty products from the Lebel, Esika, and Saysun brands (cosmetics, perfumes and women's accessories). She works 3 days a week, for 2 to 3 hours a day. She sells on credit and collects every 8 days. Bettsy has had this business for more than 4 years, and it is doing very well.

Bettsy will use this loan to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics and women's underwear. She has been with her communal bank for more than 7 years, and she likes it because the payments on the loans are easy to make.

Bettsy's dream is to give her daughter the best.
