Petita Angela's story

La Sirena Communal Bank meets every two weeks in the La Sirena neighborhood of Manta, a city known for its nice beaches that people visit year round and for being an incomparably beautiful city with a lot of tourist attractions.

This is where Petita lives. She's 33 years old and married, and has three children from this relationship, ages 15, 11, and 9. The two older ones are in high school and the younger one is in school. Her husband sells fish.

With the goal of having her own income to be able to help with her children's educational expenses, Petita earns a living selling products through Avon and Lebel catalogues (beauty supplies, cosmetics, perfume, and women's accessories). She sells door-to-door for an hour or two every day. She leaves her products on credit and charges every week or two according to what the customers want. She has been doing this job for more than four years and it's going very well for her.

She's going to use this loan to buy perfume, costume jewelry, cosmetics, and all types of clothing. She has been in the communal bank for seven loan cycles and she likes it because of the profits and the other loans the institution offers.

Her dream is to have her own house because where she lives is rented.
