Beqir, forty-six years old, provides transportation services and uses his horse to transport goods and wood to his neighbors.

Together with his wife, they have eight children and live in one of Kosovo's minority communities. Bequir's business is the only source of income for his family and he is working hard to improve the lives of his wife and children.

His horse trailer uses to transport the goods and wood is old and needs to be replaced with a newer, stronger one.

Beqir is requesting a loan to buy a new trailer for the horse and to renovate his stable. The loan will help him to continue his business and he is hoping to improve his family's life. His goal is to give his children a better education and therefore a better future. He wants to thank all Kiva lenders.

More information about this loan

This loan will support the economic aspirations of minority people in Kosovo. Roma people and ethnic Serbians have historically faced a tremendous amount of hardship in Kosovo, and are still socioeconomically and politically vulnerable. During the 1998-1999 war, the fighting displaced 250,000 people. Among those displaced were an estimated 80-90% of the region’s Roma population. Today, Roma and ethnic Serbians living in Kosovo still face discrimination and are excluded from many aspects of society, including fair political representation and high rates of unemployment. By supporting this loan you are helping provide opportunity to marginalized populations.
