Sophat's Group's story

A married father, originally from the Ek Phnom district of Battambang province, Sophat is a local farmer and a carpenter. To supplement the family’s income, his wife also tailors clothes. Sophat has been engaging in his current business for five years. He is a fourth-time borrower and joins a group of two, with a second-time borrower, to seek for a new loan with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner. His living is improving gradually from the past loans, which he has paid back with success. Now, he is seeking 1,400,000 KHR while his co-member is applying for 500,000 KHR.

As the leader, he is going to use his portion to buy sewing materials for his wife's business and to buy fertilizer for his cornfield. He hopes to increase their income so as he can improve his living conditions.
