A loan of $100 helped to pay for 20 low-cost LED lights to resell to rural households without electricity.


Noel's story

Noel is a 51-year-old man from Gakenke District in the Northern Province of Rwanda. He is seeking a loan of $100 to purchase 20 rechargeable LED lights, which he will resell to people without electricity in his village. Every week or so, these customers will return to him to have their lights recharged for just $0.20. With the money he makes from selling and recharging lights, he will improve his adobe brick home where he lives with his wife Beltirde and his 2 children (Pacific and David).
