Sarin's Group's story

47-year-old Sarin is a villager residing in a rural area of Kandal Stoeng district located in Cambodia’s Kandal province. She is married and a mother of eight children, three (a daughter and two sons) of whom are under her responsibility and currently in school. Sarin makes her living through farming rice while her husband works as a construction worker to complement the income. Sarin is leading a group of two female members who both are third-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) to take out a loan the amount of 1,160,000 KHR in total. The group leader Sarin was so satisfied with the previous loans that she obtained and successfully paid back because, with those loans, she was able to build an appropriate house in which her family can live. Now with this new requested loan portion, Sarin will spend on building a proper latrine for consumption in the family. Via the help of this loan, Sarin will be able to create a healthy environment not only for herself but for her whole family. She can also promote sanitation and hygiene practices in her community as well.
