A loan of $800 helped to buy shoes, sandals and varied apparel..

Maria's story

María is 27 years old and is a very young, friendly and hard working woman. She is the mother of a 7 year old boy and lives with 28 year old Julio, who is the father of her son. With her family, she lives in the house that they built with the economic support of relatives. Here the couple shares the happiness of living together and working continuously to have a better quality of life. María makes a living selling shoes and sandals, every two weeks or once a month, depending on the demand. To get her merchandise she travels to another city on bus for more than 20 hours. From there she makes the same trip back with the large amount of items to sell among relatives, friends and others.

The styles that she brings back are in style, exclusive and high quality. For this reason, she is able to sell them all in little time. She makes her sales on foot, traveling through the main streets of the city in search of customers that would like to buy something that she has with her. Sometimes customers make orders in advance. Since she began the business it has gone very well for her thanks to her charisma and the quality of all the items that she sells.

What she likes most about her work is making sales and is very happy when she runs out of her merchandise. She has been doing this work for nine years and says that the most difficult part is transporting the shoes because the boxes are very heavy and the strain needed to do it agitates her. However, she continues moving forward and in the near future she hopes to have a store where she can sell all types of apparel and footwear and continue working in what she considers is her passion.

This is her eleventh loan with MFP and is thankful to those who make her previous loan possible so that she can continue with her objectives. She is once again very committed to making her payments on time like she has done with the previous loans that she has had. She is very happy to belong to a communal bank because all the members are good people, friendly and supportive.

With the amount requested (2000 soles) she hopes to increase the variety of her products by buying greater quantities of shoes, sandals and different types of clothing to sell during the Christmas season.
