Thoen's Group's story

Aged 31 years, Thoen is married and lives with her family in a rural area located in the Moung Russey district of Battambang province. She is a mother of three children, one of whom is dependent and still in school. Thoen and her husband earn a living through farming rice on one-hectares of farmland and planting pineapple, which they have been in for seven years. Together, she and her husband can earn about 20,000 KHR per day from the current business and are able to save about 12,000 KHR each day for the future. Thoen’s group consists of two members who live in the same village. She is in her first loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Now she is leading her group of two to apply for a loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer for her cultivated land. Thoen hopes to get a high yield from her plantation business so as to sell it for a good price to make a better living.
