A loan of $525 helped to buy wax pagnes.

Kadia's story

Kadia is 45 years old, married, and has four children. She lives with her husband in the town of Koutiala.

Kadia was unable to attend school and so became interested in money-making activities at a young age. After having run a number of different commercial businesses, she now sells clothing such as wax pagnes (traditional wraparound fabrics). In order to increase her working capital and expand her business, Kadia has been working with Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution for 8 years. She has taken out group loans with the association (which were all repaid correctly) and is now on her 11th individual loan (all her previous individual loans having been correctly repaid as well).

Kadia plans to use this loan to buy 60 pagnes from Lomé (Togo). She sells her products from home to a customer base made up primarily of women. Her customers pay both in cash and on credit. With this loan, Kadia will make a monthly profit of 75,000 francs which she plans to use to pay the interest charged by Soro Yiriwaso and contribute towards improving her family's living conditions. She will invest the rest in her business.
