Karisa lives in the Kongowea area of Coast province, Kenya. He is a married father of two children. He owns a retail shop, a business which he has been operating for two years. In this shop, Karisa sells charcoal. Besides this, he also keeps indigenous animals and sells them, managing the trade of buying and selling of the same animals. He is also an event organizer, owning public address and music systems that are often hired for functions.
He learnt about Milango through a friend with an aim of accessing credit to improve the business operations. The challenge he is facing is bad debts. Karisa is applying for a loan of 93,850 Kenya shillings to buy other local animals and also increase the stock of charcoal in his shop. The extra income from the loan will be added to his savings to improve the living standards of his family. His aspiration is to open a butchery.
