Mercedita's story

This is Mercedita, 54, a resident of Dasmariñas, Cavite, Philippines. She is married to Eugenio and a mother to their children. Together with her husband, she manages their household, while she operates a business. She is working hard to continually provide income for their everyday expenses.

Mercedita operates a van rental business. They have one van that they offer for rent, to be used for transportation service or by people who need the van for out-of-town transportation. They provide their services within the city and nearby provinces. In addition to this, Mercedita sells processed meats for more income. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of 500 Philippine Pesos (PHP) in sales every day.

To help her continue operating her van rental business, she is requesting an 18,000 PHP loan. She will use the loan to buy spare parts, and pay for maintenance, for her van. She expects a boost in her business income as she expands her business.

Mercedita hopes that her business will grow and that her children will have a good future. She faithfully meets with her co-fellowship* members every week, to share stories of her work and to draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God she studies.

* All CCT community partners / clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and repay Micro Finance loans.
