A loan of $325 helped to purchase tables and chairs for her business.

Vanessa Del Pilar's story

Vanessa is a hard-working woman, especially because everyday she makes an effort to support her parents who live in very humble conditions. Her house is located in Santiago, Ica, Perú. Santiago is characterized for having a warm and nice weather, as well as for its agricultural production of cotton, grapes, asparagus and others. With a lot of work, Vanessa could become a college graduate. However, finding work was not easy so she came up with the idea of making Peruvian traditional dishes and desserts such as mazamorra (sweet corn chowder) and arroz con leche (rice pudding) among others. Her activity, to which she devotes about 8 hours everyday, allows her to support her family and she says her business is successful because she is very kind to her customers and particularly because she is a good cook.
Vanessa is very grateful for the opportunity offered by Kiva loaners. She will be able to purchase tables and chairs to better equip her business little by little, offering a better service to her customers and improving her income. In this way, Vanessa will continue to work in order to make her greatest dream come true: to have her own house.
