Horm S., 61 years of age, lives in Kampong Cham Province where, despite being advanced in years, she and her husband work hard on a daily basis and maintain a household with five older children at home, two still in school and two working as laborers. She is a firewood saleswoman earning only $1 per day while her husband collects recyclable items from trash heaps and houses and earns a profit of $7.50 per day by selling them to local factories for reuse.

Horm S. would like to take out a loan to buy a plot of land on which she can build a solid home. The couple wants to be able to leave something behind for their younger children. With any left over cash, she plans to help her husband buy more recyclable items.
