A loan of $1,675 helped to buy supplies.

Kelly's story

Kelly is 26 years old and has a hair salon in Barranquilla. It has been 10 years since she learned to do cuts and styles for men and women. She also sells products related to her business, such as beauty products, to do manicures and pedicures. Kelly learned styling because it was a family tradition. Her mother does the same thing and taught her when she was little. Later Kelly took courses to improve her skills and perfect her aptitude. She works another stylist’s home and buys her supplies from a beauty lab. Her dream for the future of her business is to have a place of her own to offer her services and have a distributorship for her beauty products. She works because her greatest desire is to have a home of her own, where she can live with her husband and five year old son and set up her own beauty salon. Her greatest challenges are setting up an effective business and reduce the cost that it requires. She is asking for a Kiva loan and this will be her first loan through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, which will allow her to buy supplies in quantity for her business. This will reduce her costs and she plans to save a bit more in order to achieve her dream as soon as possible.
