A loan of $250 helped to buy more pepper, bitter bal, eddoes, potatoes, etc., to expand her business.

Oretha V.'s story

Oretha is 38 years old, married, and has five children between the ages of 13 and 21 years. She ended her education at second grade, but all five of her children are in school. Her husband is a driver, and they all live in Buchanan Ground, Bassa County. The area producesa lot of fish for the Liberian local market.

Oretha said, "I am a very strong lady. I grew up as a farmer. I attended school, but my interest in farm work would not permit me to go farther in school. Through my farming production; I joined into the business of selling five years ago. Mostly I sell pepper, bitter bal, eddoes, potatoes, and other produce, in the local market, and I learned this business of selling from my friends. I requested an 18,000 LRD loan to buy more pepper, bitter bal, eddoes, potatoes, etc., to expand my business."

She likes her business, because it helps her to attend to her family. She hopes to have a new home in the future.
