Residing in a rural area of Pursat province’s Bakan district in Cambodia, Sreyneang is 26 years of age and married. She is blessed with two daughters, both of whom are under her responsibility. Sreyneang and her husband have been farming rice on a five-hectare farmland for five years, earning around 19,000 KHR daily and managing to save approximately 9,000 KHR after deducting the cost of living. Sreyneang is applying for a KHR 2,500,000 loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) for the first time. She will use her first ever requested loan to purchase fertilizer, pesticide, and gasoline. Sreyneang’s biggest hope is to be able to send her kids to school and support their education as far as possible.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
