A loan of $700 helped to buy a whole cow for himself.

Kapr's story

This is 32 year old Kapr. He is married, and has 1 child aged 6 years. In 2007, Kapr established his cow meat business, which he began because he was trained as a businessman. His business is located in the outskirts of town and his main customers are women and men. Working 7 days a week and 10 hours a day, he earns about SLL 400,000 every month. Kapr now requires a loan of SLL 3,000,000 in order to purchase a whole cow for himself, which he will slaughter and sell. His main challenge is that the cost of one cow is too high unless two or more sellers come together to buy a cow and it is shared. With this system they only realize a small profit. He hopes that this loan will help him to establish a ‘woreh’ (cattle ranch) and start selling wholesale. In the future, Kapr plans to be buy a male and female cow and nurse them. He thanks you for your support.
