Issa's story

This is 43 year old Issa. He is married and has 2 children, aged 15 and 10 years. He has 2 additional dependents, who live with him for the purposes of schooling. In 2005, Issa established his potato, cassava, and palm oil business, which he began because he wants to take care of his family. His business is located on the outskirts of town and his main customers are women. Working 7 days a week and 9 hours a day, he earns about SLL 525,000 every month. Issa requires a loan of SLL 3,000,000 in order to purchase sacks of cassava, potatoes and palm oil for resale. He hopes that this loan will help him to expand by increasing his stock and earning more profits. In the future, he plans to get two plots of land and construct a two bedroom house.
