A loan of $1,075 helped a member to buy fertilizers and seeds for her farmland.

Chanthou's Group's story

A widow from a rural village in the Ek Phnom district of Battambang province, Chanthou is 38 years old. For the last ten years, she has been farming rice and planting sugarcane to make her living. Her current business earns her about KHR 22,000 per day and she can manage to save about KHR 9,000 each day for her future needs.

Chanthou is the leader of a borrower group consisting of three members who live in the same village. This will be Chanthou's fourth loan while her group members are in their fifth and third loan cycles. She successfully used her previous loans to improve her standard of living. She is going to use her portion of the loan to buy fertilizers and seeds for her farmland, which she hopes will help her to increase her crop yields and further improve her standard of living.
