A loan of $375 helped to buy milk for making dairy products such as cheese, cream and curd to sell.

Cenia Esmeralda's story

Cenia is 33 years old, married, and has four children. She lives in a rural village in the municipality of Macuelizo, Santa Barbara.

Cenia has always been a businessperson. Previously she sold general merchandise, and six years ago decided to make dairy products such as cheese, butter, curd and buttermilk. The business has kept going and has a good clientele. She sells the product at restaurants and food stores in the area.

Currently she is applying for her second loan from ODEF, for 7,000 lempiras, and will use it as working capital and to buy the main ingredient, which is cow's milk for making her dairy products and meeting the demand she has.

Her goal is to continue working so that she can fix her house properly, and help her children with their education until they graduate.
