A loan of $600 helped to buy compost.

Sonia's story

Sonia is 48 years old and is a hardworking woman. For 13 years she has lived in a rented home with her husband, Zosimo and her three of her nine children: Maicol, Fidel, and Yanela. She has been farming for the past 20 years. Her parents instilled this in her when she was little and she has always enjoyed walking through the meadow. She has her own farmland, located along the river banks, and she cares for with great enthusiasm. “It is very productive and I have gotten a good income thanks to the soil being of good quality,” she says.

She sells the vegetables in Lima, where she has steady customers. She also raises animals which provide her an additional income that helps her maintain the household finances steady. She is grateful for the support because it has helped her to improve her business. For this reason she promises to make her payments on time. Sonia will use the money to buy compost to feed her next planting.
