A loan of $275 helped to buy food items like meat, plantain, vegetables and beans.

María Irene's story

María, 47, is a single mother; she has four children and lives with the three younger ones in a community in San Pedro Sula, Cortes Department. She used to sell tortillas but with some savings she had she managed to open a food stand two years ago where she sells fried chicken, grilled meat and chops; everything is served with fried green plantain, refried beans and green salad. In order to increase sales, she decided to request a 5,000 Lempira loan that she plans to use to buy meats, vegetables, beans, condiments and green plantains. With financial support, she will improve sales and income that she plans to continue to invest in her children’s education.
